Creating a Model Using a Version File

Create a new model from an earlier version of a model.

Prerequisites

The repository which the model should be created in is running.

Context

You want to create a new model using an earlier modeling as your starting point. A version file was already created for this purpose from another model. This is now imported into an empty model.

You can open the wizards with the New command in the application menu or with the Create a new model... link on the start page.

The wizard appears and leads you through the four steps to create your new model.

Step 1: Create a new model

How to proceed
  1. Select the repository which contains the model you want to create in the Repository drop-down list. If you have called the dialog from an open model, this model's repository is pre-selected.
  2. Enter the name you want in the Name field. This name must be unique within the repository.
  3. Enter the password which the administrator should use for logging-in in the top password field.
  4. Enter the repository password for the repository selected above in the bottom password field.
  5. The Next button takes you to Step 2.

Step 2: Select a source for the new model

  1. Select the source for the new modelClick on an earlier version of a model.

    This automatically takes you to step 3.

Step 3: Select a version file

How to proceed
  1. Select the file you want from the Model version file field. Version files always have the extension ".aob".
  2. Select the version file with the applicable model configuration from the Configuration version file field.
  3. The Next button takes you to Step 4.

Step 4: Ready to create a new model

How to proceed
  1. Check the information you entered.
  2. If everything is alright, click on the Finish button.
  3. The model is created. This may take some time.

  4. You will then be logged-in to the new model. Select the "Model Administrator" user.
  5. Use the Configuration command in the application menu to jump to the configuration editor.You can set users with the Configuration>Model Administration>Manage Users command.
  6. Log-out and log-in again as the user of your choice.
